Commissioned by/and in collaboration with Bureau Waardenburg, Marine Systems has engineered an macrozoöbenthos aspirator. Thereafter, Marine Systems has built two aspirators. Both macrozoöbenthos aspirators are tested in our test facility.
Using the macrozoöbenthos aspirator, macrozoöbenthos which lives on hard substrates (> 1mm) samples can be collected. These organisms are normally collected in Dutch fresh waters. Because the macrozoöbenthos aspirator is not sensitive in relation to environment changes, they are used as indicator to check if and in which way and to what extent the Ecosystem is changed.
