Because the measuring structure at the Diemen measuring location was in poor condition, Rijkswaterstaat decided to have the measuring location replaced in its entirety by a new curved tube construction measuring setup that had previously proven itself at the measuring locations Amsterdam Rijnkanaal and IJmuiden Binnenspuikanaal. In collaboration with Lomans Capelle and de Klerk Werkendam, this was also realised in Diemen.
This not only provides Rijkswaterstaat with a completely new measuring location, but also means that ships and divers are no longer required for maintenance (reducing safety risks), shipping traffic is no longer disrupted and this results in significant financial savings for Rijkswaterstaat. Previously, there was a frame with sensors on the bottom that was lifted to perform maintenance.
At the Diemen location, de Klerk Werkendam sank the construction to the bottom and then attached the curved tube construction to it. Thereafter, a cabinet was placed on shore, where the measuring tubes comes up. The sensors were placed in the pipes and connected and put into operation in the cabinet. Regular maintenance of the sensors is carried out by our partner Lomans Capelle.
In order to minimize inconvenience to stakeholders, the work on location was carried out within a period of one week.
